COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho (AP) -- A man who was shot Saturday in Coeur d'Alene by another man who was later shot by police was hospitalized in stable condition.
Officials with the Kootenai County sheriff's office say 29-year-old Frank James underwent emergency surgery at Kootenai Health Saturday after he was shot in the chest.
The Coeur d'Alene Press reports James was listed in stable condition Monday.
The suspected shooter, Christian Buquet, allegedly fired random shots at other citizens after shooting James. Officers shot Buquet to death after a 5-mile car chase.
Officials are still investigating the motive for the shooting, but say Buquet and James "were at least acquaintances."
Court records show Buquet, who also used the last name Mallon, had a previous adult arrest for attempted robbery in 2011.
