VALLEYFORD, Wash. -- A man was arrested after he allegedly set his ex-wife’s house on fire.
Spokane Police said arson investigators arrested Delmar Olsen Friday afternoon. Olsen’s ex-wife, Cyndi Rai, told police she thinks the man set fire to her home on Connor Road because he was upset about their divorce.
When firefighters arrived to Rai’s house Thursday they had to gut out the home to keep the fire from spreading. Rai and her five children weren't home at the time of the fire.
"He can be angry at me. I'm an adult,” Rai said. “But it's not okay to take it out on the kids and that was really sad."
The family sold the home and moved most of their belongings out the day before the fire, but one of Rai’s daughters lost all her things in the blaze.
Rai says Olsen has been struggling since they divorced two years ago. She also said she eventually got a restraining order against him.
Meanwhile, fire inspectors were still investigating where the fire started. No one was injured.
Olsen was booked into jail on First Degree Arson charges.
