BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- The University of Idaho aims to release within two weeks the personnel records of a professor who resigned three days before police say he gunned down a graduate student he had dated and then committed suicide.
UI President Duane Nellis announced the timeline Friday in an editorial sent to Idaho media outlets.
A northern Idaho judge ordered the personnel records of Ernesto Bustamante released during a hearing Monday. Police say Bustamante shot 22-year-old Katy Benoit nearly a dozen times outside her Moscow home in late August and then turned a gun on himself.
The university and several media outlets petitioned the court to rule Bustamante's records were a matter of public record.
An attorney for the school has said the records include emails that number "in the tens of thousands."
