"I Have A Dream" video contest offers travel scholarship prize

SPOKANE, Wash.—Spokane Public School students are being offered an opportunity to compete in a contest to travel abroad next summer.

A 2013 National Teacher of the Year guest taught at On Track Academy in Spokane on Tuesday. Teacher Jeff Charbonneau and the superintendent announced a video contest to award two outstanding Inland Northwest students with full travel scholarships for a People to People Ambassador Program destination of their choice in the summer of 2014.

The contest is sponsored by People to People and the Spokane Public Schools.

The contest is themed around the Martin Luther King holiday and is called the “I Have a Dream” contest.

Charbonneau is a science and engineering teacher from Zillah, Wash and has traveled with People to People to Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai, China.

Students are encouraged to create and submit a video, 60 seconds or less, starting with the phrase, “I have a dream.”

The deadline for the submission is January 24, 2014.
