SPOKANE -- A race to remember 9/11’s fallen heroes will wind through Spokane this weekend.
The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Tower 5k Run is a nationwide event that came to Spokane in 2011.
The run begins at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 22. The starting/finish line is at the North Bank Shelter at Riverfront Park located at 507 N. Howard.
The race is named at Stephen Stiller, a firefighter who ran through a tunnel and up the World Trade Center to save lives on September 11th. Stiller never made it out of the tower.
A portion of the money raised will go towards supporting the Spokane Firefighters Benevolent Fund.
Online registration is $25. Runners may also register the morning of the race for $40.
Children are welcome to participate, but organizers ask that people with strollers form at the back of the starting line.
