SPOKANE, Wash. -- A family visiting Spokane for medical treatment found the truck stolen from them earlier this week.  The theft had left them stranded on Thanksgiving.

The truck was recovered by police Friday.  The owner of the truck, Mike, said it was found northwest of the Monroe Street Bridge. The truck is driveable and they will be able to take it home. He said the car needed to be detailed because whoever took the truck had smoked in it.

Mike and his family from Central Idaho came to town for a daughter’s hospital visit.  The family’s truck disappeared from the parking lot at the Madison Inn Hotel where they were staying.

“The first thing that goes through my mind is what’s next after everything with my daughter, all the medical stuff, all the hospital trips we’ve been to,” Mike said, “and then to walk out on Thanksgiving day to see that someone has stolen your rig is pretty heartbreaking.”

The truck that was stolen was a custom-build Ford Excursion Mike built himself.

He was offering a $1000 reward to anyone who could help police track down the stolen vehicle. No one will get the reward because police found the vehicle.
