SPOKANE – Donations are stacking up for our troops overseas as Haskins Steel and KREM 2 team up for the Treats 2 Troops program.  The latest major drop-off came Monday morning from military mom Kelly Jo Keggerreis.

“Why can’t we give to them? They give to us,” she said. “It just makes sense.”

Keggerreis delivered 20 boxes of candy and supplies, weighing more than 500 pounds. They came as surplus donations from a separate benefit for local Marines.

All Washington Trust Bank locations will take donations through Friday, Nov. 23. The following week, volunteers will pack the boxes. Washington Trust Bank will pay postage to send about 400 packages overseas in time for the holidays.

The donations will ensure all men and women from Spokane’s Fairchild Air Force Base will receive a package overseas. Additionally, about 200 other individuals from other military branches will get one, too.

“That makes me feel good,” Keggerreis said. “Giving back.”
