SPOKANE, Wash.--Tonasket High School administration received substantiated evidence of misconduct by a Tonasket High librarian on Monday prior to her arrest according to the Superintendent B. Paul Turner.

He added that classified librarian Elizabeth Kinkade, 37, was immediately put on administrative leave after the evidence was presented.

Kinkade was arrested Tuesday for allegedly having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.  On Wednesday, the Tonasket School Board voted unanimously to terminate Kinkade.

“School employee/student relationships are based on the trust that a student's well-being is of utmost importance.  When this trust is broken, it is the duty of the administration and school board to react swiftly and directly,” wrote Turner.

Kinkade’s husband was also arrested. Officials said he fired a weapon on Monday after Kinkade admitted to having an affair. Officials said he was arrested for discharging a firearm in a residential area.
