POST FALLS, Idaho -- Corbin Park in Post Falls has had three drownings take place there in the last three years.

The Spokane River is starting to rise at Corbin Park and it is making the water more dangerous. Search and Rescue Crews warn the waters can be so dangerous that a life jacket might not keep people above the water. Local fishermen say the under current is what makes the water so dangerous.

Captain Pat Knight of the Post Falls Police Department says Corbin Park has always been a trouble spot.

"I've been with the department over 19 years and in that time frame we seem to respond here every year for some type of drowning," said Knight.

This year, Search and Rescue Crews are trying to get the word out about the dangers. They say people should stay out of the water or wear life jackets.
