SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Two teenagers from Spokane Valley who allegedly hit one of their mothers over the head with a sword and then went on a crime spree had planned to flee the area with packed clothes according to authorities.

Officials said that on September 17th the boys hit the woman so hard that they cracked her skull. They apparently had wanted her to be asleep for an hour before attacking, according to authorities. Officials said messages between the two boys found by one of the aunts showed that they planned to flee and were packing clothes.

Investigators said the 13-year-old admitted he told his 14-year-old friend to try to kill his mother because he had been taking "blue pills.”  The 14-year-old suspect also admitted to attempting to kill his friend's mother and that they were going to leave town afterwards, according to detectives.  The 13-year-old suspect also reportedly told investigators the friend tried to talk him into eating his mother, specifically her liver.  Investigators said the 13-year-old blamed his thought process on his drug usage and said he would never do anything like that sober.

Both teenage males were booked into Juvenile Detention for 2nd Degree Assault, Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Permission, Residential Burglary, 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief, and Hit and Run.

Detectives said that they are searching for the boys' phones.
