COEUR d'ALENE -- The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department arrested a teenager who they say robbed a coffee stand at gunpoint early Wednesday morning in Coeur d'Alene.

It happened around 6:20 a.m. at the Sunshine Espresso near the intersection of Ironwood Drive and Government Way. We're told the suspect did not get away with any money.

Then, a Kootenai County deputy in plain clothes happened to be nearby and heard the radio broadcast on the suspect. That deputy located the man walking about two blocks from the coffee stand.

The deputy held the 17 year old suspect at gunpoint until others arrived to take him into custody. Deputies say the teen was carrying a handgun.

Because the suspect is a minor, they're not releasing his name. However, they say if the courts charge him as an adult, his information will be made available.

these robberies have to stop, more and more people seem to be joining this craxy idea of quick cash, its only a matter of time tell someone gets hurt or killed, its just plain stupid.i think they should charge him as an adult these people are commiting adult crimes old or teenage they need to be shown we will not tolerate these kind of crimes and that they are serious.

This kid needs to pay the consequences. Where are the parents any way??? More and more kids are committing crimes. Is there any rules or consequences concerning their upbringing??? Maybe, boot camp jail will straighten him out ,and alot of overs just like him. I am getting sick of all the bad news--shootings,robbery,etc. It all starts at home....Be parents to your kids.

Unfortunately it will only stop (or slow) when one or more of these robbers gets shot and killed by a legally armed individual.

Good for this woman to have the courage to pull a gun right back on this kid!

This woman is my sister. All I can say is that I am extremely proud of her and extremely relieved that she is ok. Thank God she had the guts and intellect to do what she did. I'm glad this kid will be tried as an adult. He could have killed my big sister today and I am not ok with that.
