SPOKANE VALLEY-- Pipes are already starting to freeze across the region.

To prevent pipes from freezing people need to take basic winterizing steps.

One utility district in Spokane Valley tells KREM 2 News, it has already had a frozen pipe call since Sunday.

Experts say now is the time to start draining your pipes and letting the water run just a little bit to keep it from freezing.

Also, make sure any pipes that are visible are also insulated; even having a light bulb next to them will help.

Make sure meters are also insulated; meters can be expensive if they burst.

Frozen pipes are also expensive but a pipe that burst will cost even more.
