Suspect identified in officer-involved shooting in Colville

COLVILLE, Wash.— The suspect in an officer-involved shooting has been identified.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 900 block of S. Main in Colville.  The Colville Police were called to the location for a report of a vehicle prowler.
 
The suspect, 21-year-old Sean J. Bergstrasser, was shot and killed by police.
 
Police say stolen property, including a loaded handgun, was recovered from the hotel room where the incident occurred.
The autopsy has been completed on the twenty-one year old suspect. The Stevens County Coroner identified Bergstrasser as a transient from California.  Officials say the suspect died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The interview of officer involved in the incident, Officer Spring, has been completed. Spring is an eleven-year veteran of the Colville Police Department and remains on paid administrative leave per department policy.
