Poll:
How many times have you lost power this summer?

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash.— About 10,000 people lost power Tuesday night, and for some people it was the third storm to leave them in the dark this summer.

By Wednesday afternoon, Avista Utilities had power working again for nearly all of their customers.

Yet, a Deer Park man said he had come to expectant an outage with every storm. Aaran McMurrough has lost power during each of the three summer storms.

“The first time we were out for 24 hours,” said McMurrough. “The second time also 24 even though they told us 36.”

McMurrough has lived in the Spokane area for years but said he has never had a summer like this. He admitted to narrowly escaping injuries during the first storm of the summer season.

“It felt like a tornado,” he added. “I picked up my daughter and it pushed me against my house.”

McMurrough said the hardest part is trying to keep his food refrigerated during the outages. Despite the power outage stress, McMurrough told KREM 2 News that he is grateful for the hardworking linemen helping to fix power lines every time.
