COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- A man was taken into protective custody Saturday evening after he pulled out a knife and held it to his own throat.
Coeur d’Alene Police responded to the Lowe’s near the intersection of North Julia Street and West Appleway Avenue around 7:15 p.m. The officer contact the man and he pulled out a knife and put it to his throat.
Authorities said officers commanded the man to drop the knife multiple times. The man refused and walked away from officers and headed toward a nearby business.
Officials said less lethal munitions were used on the man. They said the man dropped the knife and was taken into protective custody.
Police said the man was transported to Kootenai Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries to his neck.
