SPOKANE, Wash. --  A recent investigation help recover the Spokane Police Chief's bike.

Officials said officers stopped a man on a bike that almost caused an accident and was not wearing a helmet. The bike rider told police it was not his bike and he had got it from a person at a motel.

Officers found Chief Frank Straub's bike along with three others at the West Wynn Motel on the 2700 block of West Sunset Boulevard.

Andrew Koffel was arrested in connection to the stolen bikes.

Chief Straub's garage was broken into on May 17th and his bike was stolen.

Officer Teresa Fuller said those other three bikes were never reported stolen. She says the best way to help find a stolen item is to have the serial number.

The public can register their bikes at any COP Shop to help identify them in case of theft.
