SPOKANE VALLEY-- For the second time since July, a family traveling through Spokane Valley with all of their belongings has been ripped off.

The U-haul trailer stolen from a military family overnight was found Monday evening.

It was abandoned at an apartment complex at 2400 N. Wilbur in Spokane Valley.

The family was driving from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota to McChord Air Force Base in Western Washington.

The husband was being deployed to Korea.

The family was staying at the La Quinta Suites Sunday night off of Sullivan.

A neighbor from an apartment complex on North Wilbur saw news coverage of the U-haul being stolen and remembered seeing the trailer earlier in the day.

He called Spokane Valley Police.

Some of the more expensive items were stolen, including Christmas presents.

The family’s truck that was pulling the U-haul still has not been found.

Crime Stoppers has offered a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-222-TIPS.

As a military wife I feel so bad for this family. The items they had in that U-haul were probably the ones they valued most and didn't want the movers to pack up for them. Blanquita - you have no idea what you are talking about. We have been in for 15 years and sure don't make a ton of money. Maybe you should educate yourself before you speak.

dont bother speaking back to thugs like blanquita - they dont get it, y'all.... For the record, I dont think they train soilders heading off to war about U-Haull security. I think I want them to know how to professionally operate the Striker safely and professionally while UNDER FIRE - I think that's the sorta stuff they focus on in soliderin' school ..... Man, what a world. In defense of the crooks, I'm sure they didnt target a military fam, just picked a truck up. Oh yeah, how's someone who's from out of town gonna know hwo scummy people in Spokane

How sad that someone like blanquita is able to spew his comments towards someone who protects his/her rights to do so. Shame

This is for Blanquita: Obviously you know nothing and must have the education of a 1 year old. Because of the military family YOU are allowed to spew what you just did on this blog. God forgive you for your indifference and lack of knowledge. The military gets paid squat to defend your rights to speak like an utter moron. I would never blog on these sites because of people like you, however, you have my dander up. So suffice it to say, go back where you came from, you don't belong in my United States of America.

Seriously BLANQUITA.. Did you read the article? The family’s truck that was pulling the U-haul still has not been found. The truck and U-haul were both stolen. The truck was parked in a hotel parking lot - which should have been a fairly secure place- at least well lit during the night. Perhaps the family had a little more faith in humankind and did not think someone would steal their possessions. Last time I checked, a member of the Air Force serving our country was not paid a big salary. Not sure who you think he is working for. Besides, anyone who puts their own life on the line to protect our country should be getting paid a lot more. Let me guess - you have never served our country in any capacity and have no CLUE what that really means.

Makes you wonder about some of the people getting paid to protect the United States. If they can't protect their own belongings, how are they going to protect the country? When I rent a U-Haul, my brain tells me to use really strong locks and a steering wheel bar. Anyone who reads the paper knows that rented trailer rip-offs occur all the time. Thousands of crooks have the keys to U-Haul vehicles. You'd think a so-called professional soldier would know this. With the amount of money they get paid nowadays, they should be able to afford these security measures.

A military family on orders... traveling from North Dakota to the coast... getting ripped off in Spokane. Isn't this nice? Freaking thieves. A military member on orders to Korea.. serving our country so some idiot has the freedom to steal all their belongings.
