SPOKANE, Wash--North Central High School will recognize US Army Staff Sergeant Ty M. Carter as a Distinguished Alumnus at the annual Red and Black Convocation.
Specialist Carter received the Medal of Honor from President Obama in August at the White House for his service in Afghanistan. Officials said Staff Sergeant Carter risked his life multiple times during a 2009 battle to deliver ammunition and medical aid to fellow soldiers.
Carter graduated in 1998 from North Central High School.
School officials said current students will share information about Carter’s achievements and North Central Principal Steve Fisk will present the award February 6th at the convocation. The ceremony also honors current students.
