SPOKANE, Wash—City officials planned to close public facilities Monday, January 20th for the observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The civil rights activist would have turned 85 on January 15th.

Spokane City Hall, Spokane Municipal Court and The Spokane Public Library are closed for the holiday. Additionally, metered parking Downtown Spokane is free Monday.

Garbage pick-up and curbside recycling will proceed as usual.
