SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- A Spokane man has drowned near Spring Canyon in the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.

The National Park Service said 23-year-old Harrison Fischer was swimming with a group of friends on Sunday when he rolled off his floating device and into the water.

Fischer did not immediately come to the surface and one of his friends began diving for him while others went for help.

Park Service rangers arrived and tried to revive Fischer, but were unsuccessful.

Great job reporting, Joe. I hope your words of wisdom can reach the world. But just in case they don't, you can take solice in the fact that your words can do more harm than actual good. If I were in a motor boat, yes I agree I would have a life jacket on. Let me ask you this, how many people have you seen in a swimming pool, on a floaty, wearing a life jacket ? Something else happened here, other factors, maybe the water was too cold, maybe something medical. Either the case, I pray for Harrison, his family and friends.

In the future I just wish folks would wear a life jacket so this sort of thing does not happen again, the family must be devasted over this. This is a bad, bad thing to happen. One might wanna refrain from name calling lest you get a bad rep. Stuff like that could possibly get one banned from here depending whether or not you upset the moderator or not or the Admin.

Joe knows EVERYTHING.....obviously, because he comments on EVERYTHING.....and he's always first with the comments. So, with all that time on your hands, Joe C., why don't you do some good, step away from the computer, and use your "educated" knowledge volunteering for something, somewhere, sometime.

Joe it's not a matter of you educating people... It's a matter of being tactful... And you sir are not. Like I said before, if you can't make a decent comment keep your mouth shut. Nobody wants to hear it. And as for your sister, I'm sorry that her hospital bills are so high. What I would suggest is to contact the hospitals finance department and have them help her. I just got stuck with a huge bill from a visit that I had. I lost my job 2 days after the visist and there was no way I could pay the bill. I contacted them and with a little (ok a lot) of work, they wrote off 90% of the bill. I still had to pay a portion, but they realized that I had other obligations.

Hey, what I said makes good sense! They have never that I know of had to pull a soul out that was wearing a life jacket! I'm sorry if some uneducated people see things wrong but what I said was meant to hopefully teach others that never seem to learn! And no. Now, on the other ordeal what I said was true and it was not meant in anyway to harm any soul and the educated would see that! Wait till you get a three hundred thousand dollar doctor bill and you will see what I mean! My own sister is going through just such a thing now! She can never opay it and she wishes that she had expired because without me she would lose everything!!!!!!! So, maybe you should not read just the red and leave the blacK. No harm done though! I am hard to anger!

Joe, some things are better off left unsaid. If your heart really does go out to a deceased person's family, perhaps keeping your opinion to yourself would be prudent?

Joe Cartwright, you are such an A HOLE... Why do you always feel the need to make a snide remark? This is the second comment in the last couple of days that I have read from you where you chastise a person that has passed away. If you want to make a comment say something nice, otherwise keep your piehole shut. Jerk! My condolances go out to the family who have just lost a loved one!!!

Great job reporting, KREM: it could have been something else but i bet he would still be here if he had been a real man and wearing a life jacket!!!! My heart goes out to the family!
