Spokane has worst job-hiring outlook in the nation for 2012

SPOKANE--Spokane has the worst job hiring outlook in the nation this upcoming year.

This according to Forbes magazine, which released it’s projected hiring outlook for 2012.  It lists the top cities for available jobs as well as the worst.

Spokane tied for last along with Fresno, California and Dayton, Ohio with a -4% hiring outlook. 

12% of Spokane employers say they will increase their hiring in 2012, while 16% say they will be cutting staff.

Fort Myers and Lakeland-Winterhaven, Florida tied for first with net hiring outlooks of 17%.
 
Spokane’s Workforce Development Council says their has been an upward trend of job hirings the past few months.

Experts don’t expect a lot of growth, but they believe healthcare, transportation and manufacturing will drive the city’s economy.

The city encourages entrepreneurs to look into programs available to help start-up new businesses.
