SPOKANE -- A Spokane mother surprised her daughter with a trip to Portland to see one of their favorite bands, Rascal Flatts, in concert over the weekend. But the surprises didn't end there.

11 year old Makenna Fitzner thought she was getting ready for school on Friday, but her mom, Alyssa, had other plans. Instead she told Makenna they were going to the airport and flying to Portland for the concert.

If that wasn't enough excitement for the weekend, at the concert Makenna randomly ended up on Stage. Gary LeVox, the lead singer, pointed the microphone at Makenna while singing, "What Hurts the Most", she knew all the words, and he pulled her up on stage for the rest of the song. That's where she continued to dazzle the crowd, hitting every note and lyric.

Her mom tells KREM 2 News it was the 'coolest experience'--- shocking and incredible. She says couldn't believe how well Makenna did singing in front of the huge crowd. She says Makenna has been pretty modest about all the excitement, but says she's been singing the song a lot since the concert!

After telling the story to some of her friends, Alyssa says one of them called her back and said sure enough, the performance is posted on Youtube.com.

I've never heard of 'Rascal Flats' and generally stay away from country style music, but that was really cool and the world really needs more of that heart-warming stuff. Total class in my book. They will sell a couple CD's to me today, if they have any.

I think Gary made a very good backup singer for Makenna. You stole the show girl, and drove it like you meant it! Even Texas thinks your AWESOME!

There are so many amazing and outstanding things about this, including 1) Rascal Flats would give someone such an amazing opportunity as this, 2) Makenna seized the opportunity in an outstanding and classy fashion, 3) people are talking about it in such a positive manner, and 4) the media is seeming to embrace the fact that good news is out there and it happens on many different levels every day. Congratulaitons Makenna!

I can't believe how good your voice is Makenna. And your poise and gorgeous smile. You can tell he really is just blown away by you. We keep watching this video over and over and like the previous poster said - Rascal Flatts has a new fan!

The dude's a big fan of rock n' roll, especially Creedence. But this little girl might be my new favorite. Gotta run, it's my turn to roll.

I was at this show. I had traveled all the way from Denver in a blizzard to be there but it was worth it not just to see Rascal Flatts but to see this young lady be so amazing on stage. This is not unusual for Rascal Flatts to pull a young person on stage but Gary normally just walks them up and down the stage. This night he pull this young lady from the crowd after she sang a few bars of their hit "What Hurts The Most". He walked with her on stage and let her sing most of the song with him even allowing her to sing on her own several times including finishing the song on her own. She was poised, knew all the words, was on key and kept the correct tempo. I was so proud of her and I don't even know her. You could tell Gary (the lead singer) was proud of her too and gave her a big hug when they were finished. You have a talent Makenna and I am proud of you for doing so well at the concert on Friday night.
