SPOKANE, Wash. -- After putting up the fight of her life for nearly eleven weeks, a Spokane girl is back home.

Ayla James, 10, returned home late Wednesday after months recovering from a car wreck.  The crash, which happened in May, killed her friend and soccer teammate 10-year-old Gracie Snider.

Dozens of family, friends, and teammates were on hand to greet Ayla after her flight landed at Spokane International Airport.

"Ayla is an inspiration to everybody. To see her walking right now and to be able to embrace people. It seems like she's bringing a lot of healing to this community instead of the other way around," said family friend Bobby Moore.

Before heading to her house, Ayla promised each of her friends they would hang out soon and thanked everyone for their support.
