SPOKANE, Wash. -- Deputies who killed a suspect during a domestic violence call were justified when they shot the man, according to a group of local law enforcement.

Charges will not be filed against Deputies Aaron Childress and Eric Werner, who shot Edward Gover on Sept. 5. Police say Gover told the deputies he was armed with a large knife and threatened to kill them. The deputies told investigators Gover acted like he had something behind his back and charged at both of them.

The deputies originally responded to the home on North Skipworth after Gover allegedly stabbed a woman in the arm and held her against her will.

The Spokane Investigative Regional Response (SIRR) Team investigated the incident. The SIRR is made of members of the Spokane Police Department, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol.
