SPOKANE, Wash. – An early morning fire completely gutted a flooring delivery van, but firefighters managed to spare a building of law offices less than ten feet away.
Spokane Fire Department battalion chief Mike Thompson said firefighters got the call around 3 a.m. Tuesday, and at that point the flames were burning as high as the building.
“The flames were as high as the roof on the three-story building and started to infringe on the building, so crews got in pretty quick,” Thompson said.
Firefighters forced two doors of the office building open to get inside and ensure the fire didn’t spread to the attic.
The delivery truck belongs to Caruso’s Floors. Employees said, luckily, they’d emptied the truck with a delivery on Monday. But it was the company’s only delivery truck, so now they are faced with renting one to carry on business.
Fire investigators have yet to determine the source of the fire.
