SPOKANE VALLEY--The City of Spokane Valley wants anyone looking to open a new business to know, they think they're the best place to start a business in all of Washington State.

As you drive along Sprague in Spokane Valley you'll likely pass by several billboards, but instead of selling food or business, the city is selling itself and promising the friendliest permit process in the state.

Ralph Hunter plans to open up his southern food restaurant next week after working on the place for months.  He says he looked across the inland northwest and chose his spot in Spokane Valley for the demographics and convenience.  "To be successful, to get the word out, for people to be supportive and have your name and be repeat customers, the Valley was the best place to start,” says Hunter.

Hunter says entrepreneurs need mentors and there should be more community education on the other aspects of opening a business.  He also says funding for anyone looking to open their doors is a challenge.

Hunter did look into opening his business in the City of Spokane first, but found it too difficult.  Staff with the city says they recently moved their permit process online and connected it with the state to make it easier.
