SHANGHAI—Judges recognized the Spokane Regional Health District at an international summit April 9th and 10th for the Global Healthy Workplace Awards in Shanghai.
Spokane Regional Health District won in the category of small and medium-sized enterprises and was acknowledged for its commitment to wellness at the worksite and dedication to its employees’ health and safety.
Employers representing 33 countries competed for the distinction.
“Truly the health district’s most valuable asset is its employees, they are at the heart of why we make such a tangible commitment to wellness at work,” said SRHD Health Officer Dr. Joel McCullough. “Although it is an honor to receive this distinction, the true reward is our employees’ continued improved health.”
Award finalists presented an overview of their programs to an international panel of judges.
Leaders from the Spokane Regional Health District said a number of programs and committees contributed to the organization’s health and safety standards. Those included providing and promoting physical activity, healthy foods, cultivating a tobacco-free campus and promoting green practices and policies, among many other things.
The Spokane Regional Health District was chosen to be featured as part of a year-long promotional program and was slated to receive a $3,000 cash prize in addition to earning the Global Healthy Workplace Award.
