SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Police cruisers have started to look a little different on the street.
The department is changing the outside colors to the traditional black and white paint scheme, rather than the all-white version with the blue stripe and badge logo.
“It's a little softer touch, the black and white is more of a presence,” said Officer Richard Carroll. “When people roll up they know the police are here. It makes us more visible and they know who it is.”
Carroll said the new colors also serve another purpose.
“People know they can see that see it from a distance rather than the one with the blue stripe,” said Caroll.
The department is also getting new standard cruisers--police interceptors rather than the Crown Victoria models.
