SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police said a woman stabbed her ex-boyfriend in a fight over money early Tuesday morning. Officers said they were searching for the woman and another suspect.

Authorities said the stabbing happened around 3:30 a.m. at an apartment near 6th Ave. and Adams St. Investigators said the victim told them his ex-girlfriend stabbed him in his stomach and thigh.

According to police, the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said they locked down the residence where the stabbing occurred and had secured a search warrant to enter the home. Officers broke down the door and entered the apartment around 5:30 a.m.

Officers found evidence of an assault inside the apartment, police officials said, but did not find the suspects.

“No one was inside when we got there,” said Lt. Dean Sprague. “The victim was waiting outside of it but he stepped away from the apartment long enough for the people who were inside to leave.”

Officers said they knew the identities of the suspects they were searching for and did not believe there was any danger posed to the public.
