SPOKANE, Wash. -- The fate of accused killer Louis (Hanson) Montoya was placed in the hands of a jury Wednesday.
Testimony in the trial began Monday and closing arguments were concluded by Wednesday afternoon.
Hanson, 29, is accused of shooting and killing Aaron Cummings on New Year’s Eve in 2012. Authorities said the shooting was gang related.
In opening statements, the defense for Hanson claimed the shooting was self-defense. They also said that “neither men involved were angels.”
Cumming’s mother testified about the last minutes of his life. Witnesses said the victim, Aaron Cummings, never reached for a weapon.
