SPOKANE, Wash.—The Spokane Fire Department had a limited number of smoke detectors to install free of charge for low-income people living inside the City limits of Spokane on Monday.

To qualify for a smoke detector you must have no working smoke detectors or only have smoke detectors that were more than ten-years-old, according to the fire department.

There were also a limited number of strobe light smoke detectors or Lifetone devices for people who were hard of hearing or deaf.

To complete an application, please call the Spokane Fire Department at (509) 625-7000.

The smoke detectors were available through a grant to the Spokane Fire Department from the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals.
