SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane County Library District was awarded a Target Early Childhood Reading Grant of $2,000 to start a program to help immigrant families.
The Library District will work with World Relief and the Burmese Chin community to identify and help immigrant families in North Spokane. The district said they want the families to experience a story time event so they can get to know learning opportunities available through the library.
The library will use a portion of the grant money to pay an interpreter to be at the events, and to have some library materials, such as library card applications and information, translated.
The Burmese Chin Storytime event is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
