SPOKANE COUNTY -- The Spokane County Auditor’s Office will extend its hours Friday in anticipation of higher than normal marriage applications.

With the passage of Referendum 74, same gender couple will be able to start applying for marriage licenses beginning Thursday, December 6th.

In anticipation of higher than normal volume, the Auditor’s Office will extend its business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for one day only on Friday, Dec. 7th.

Couples planning to be married on 12/12/12 must apply no later than Dec. 7th.

Applicants need to bring the following:
$58 cash or check (no credit or debit cards are accepted),
Identification indicating age (state-issued photo ID preferred)

18 years or older (17 years of age if parent/guardian consent)
No current spouse
No current registered domestic partner, unless it is the other party to this marriage.

The Auditor’s Office staff can only answer questions related to the marriage application process.

Legal Voice, a nonprofit entity, has developed a series of answers and questions that may be useful to same gender couples.
