SPOKANE -- Spokane County Raceway Operator Craig Smith confirmed the remainder of the 2012 season at the oval track will continue, just not under current lease holder Full-Blown Promotions.

Smith explained to an emotional crowd gathered for a press conference at the Spokane County Courthouse that the Tarr Family, which runs the oval track, was delinquent on their rent to the tune of $28,000. The company was given until August 27th to pay up, but they failed to comply and their lease was terminated.

Sheri Tarr, said changes at the raceway have made it difficult to pay what she owes. She said her contract agreement said she would pay $2,500 for Friday races and $3,500 for Saturday races.

Smith cancelled the races on Fridays because he said it was more profitable to combine days. He said he was also forced by the Washington Liquor Control Board to stop sharing his money with Tarr because she did not have a license of her own.

Tarr said the lack of alcohol sales had made it impossible for her to pay her lease.

Craig said he will take over the remainder of the 2012 season, and racers will still be able to compete. He said he will find a new lease holder for the 2013 season, and there are several interested parties that have come forward.
