SPOKANE -- Spokane voters easily approved two propositions during Tuesday’s Special Election. A third proposition was too close to call.
Proposition 1, which gives the police ombudsman more authority easily passed with 69% - Yes to 31% - No.
Proposition 3, a levy to fund libraries, led with 66% - Yes to 34% - No.
Just Proposition 2, which requires that the City Council needs a super majority to increase any tax, was just barely leading 50% to 49%. Only 437 votes separated the two.
Voters in the East Valley School District rejected a tax to pay for sports, a performing arts center, and building improvements with 63 % - No to 36% - Yes.
About 39,800 ballots were counted Tuesday night, which was 12% voter turnout. The next round of results were expected at 6:00 PM Wednesday.
