SPANGLE, WA. -- A school in Spangle is competing for state-of-the-art upgrades and using the power of Facebook to get them.
Upper Columbia Academy, a Seventh Day Adventist school with dormitories, is the only school in Eastern Washington competing for the renovations. The school has 257 students and most of them live on campus.
School officials signed up this summer for the Kohl's Cares Facebook contest, and the top 20 schools with the most Facebook votes gets $500,000 each.
UCA is in 38th place -- just 12 spots away from making their dreams a reality.
School officials would give $300,000 to a new cafeteria, and the remaining $200,000 to the dorms, built back in the 1940's.
UCA has until next Friday, September 3 to get the votes.
