SPOKANE, Wash.—Thieves are taking off with some unusual loot in one Spokane neighborhood. Solar lights appeared to be vanishing in the Manito area.

A neighbor told homeowner Dennis Davis that someone tried to steal three of the lights from his yard along 29th Avenue.  They said the lights were inexpensive and Davis did not understand why anyone would want them.

“There was a guy with a red car that drove into your driveway and he started picking the heads of all of your solar lights,” is what Davis said a neighbor told him.

Davis said his neighbor yelled at the man from across the street and the man ran off.

"I was surprised that it happened on a busy street like this,” said Davis.

Neighbors said it was hard to believe that anyone would take the inexpensive lights.

Davis said he was glad his neighborhood was working together to stop the crime.

"We kind of all know each other and we all kind of watch out for each other,” said Davis.

Spokane police said it was important to report thefts to Crime Check in order for police to look for increases in thefts in any particular area.
