SPOKANE, Wash. -- More people are logging on to Facebook to help fight crime. Deputies with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office estimate that 5,059 cyber detectives visit their Facebook page regularly.

Detectives post information about crimes to help trigger tips. Investigators said they receive about one lead each day due to Facebook users.

“The more eyes we have the more public help that we have, obviously, the more successful we're going with these types of investigations," said Deputy Craig Chamberlin.

Deputies assign someone to look through the posts for tips.
