SPOKANE -- The record snowfall equals big business for one Lower South Hill shop. Mechanics at Gopher's S.H.O.P are booked solid fixing snow blowers. The growing problem has created a three week wait.
Store owner Dale LaBounty says he got 250 snow blowers in 2 and a half days last week. He says it was so busy one day that he and his crew checked in units for eight solid hours. They included all models, brands, and sizes.
"Our biggest problem is finding our customers trying to use these to go through the plow berms out there," said LaBounty.
LaBounty says a simple repair can run a customer around $70. A more complicated repair can cost a couple hundred.
Right now, he is back logged almost three weeks.
"The only time we see them is when they've actually just self destructed the unit because the only time they'll bring it in is when it won't start," said LaBounty.
LaBounty says it's a good idea to bring in the snow blower annually for maintenance before the storm hits. He says that could alleviate a lot of problems.
