POST FALLS, Idaho-- Plans are in the works to turn a former Post Falls mobile home park into a shopping center.

The property sits off of Highway 41 and Mullan Avenue. The property owner told KREM 2 News that big name retailers have considered moving into the space, which was once occupied by the El Rancho Mobile Home Park.

The eight-acre park was shut down in July 2012. Machines cleared the land and now only a few foundations remain.

Neighbors said they would be excited to see new business fill the empty lot.

“This area definitely needs something in that corner,” said Glenn Gatherer.

He owns Nate's New York Pizza and said that new business would be a welcome change.

“We’ve had that, I’m sorry to say, eye sore from the trailer park but now it’s hopefully going to be a nice shopping center,” added Gatherer.

The property owner said that there is no timeline yet for construction.
