SPOKANE, Wash. -- A Shock offensive lineman and former WSU Coug parted shed an important part of his identity recently.
Andrew Roxas began growing out his hair six years ago. He finally chopped it off and donated his strands to Locks of Love.
Roxas says this is an opportunity to honor his mother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer during his sophomore year of high school. His high school did not allow long hair. He began growing it out in college. Roxas’s mother has been in remission for the last eight years.
“It was a great feeling being able to cut it to honor my mom. It’s definitely different not having it but my hair will grow back, hopefully,” he said.
Roxas donated two 14-inch pony tails.
