NORTH SPOKANE COUNTY -- A 9 year old girl is brain dead after being involved in a two car crash in North Spokane County Thursday evening.  Investigators say Olivia Chaffin was declared brain dead at 11:57 a.m. Friday.  Her family continues to keep her body on life support.

The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hazard and Monroe.  Investigators say a 24 year old pizza delivery woman ran a stop sign at the intersection and T-boned another car.  The impact happened where the 9 year old was sitting.  The girl was riding with her grandmother and her father.

Both vehicles came to rest at Wild Rose Cemetery on Hazard Road.  The pizza delivery car then caught fire.  Investigators say the pizza delivery woman sustained a minor leg injury.  The grandmother was riding in the front passenger seat.  She received a broken neck and fractured ribs.  She is in stable condition.  The father of the 9 year old received minor injuries and was the first person who initiated CPR on his daughter.

Investigators say the 9 year old briefly lost a pulse while rescue crews performed CPR on her.  She was stable as she was taken to the hospital by helicopter.  She had numerous major internal injuries.

Investigators say alcohol and/or drugs does not appear to be a factor at this point.
