SPOKANE, Wash— For Wishing Star volunteers, “Kidding” season started Monday in the greater Spokane area.  Spokane Produce Incorporated sponsored the 9th annual Send a Friend a Goat fundraiser.

For $50 or more, donors can send a live baby goat to an unsuspecting recipient. Volunteers ask recipients to make a donation of any amount to Wishing Star in order to have the goat removed.

In 2013, Wishing Star raised $22,000 through the fundraiser.

Wishing Star offered members of the Spokane community Goat Insurance for a $100 donation. Purchasing insurance protects individuals from getting ‘goated’ during the 2014 fundraiser that was scheduled for April 14th – April 18th.

The organization planned to use the proceeds to further their efforts to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses in eastern and central Washington and Idaho.
