SPOKANE -- A local skier spent 22 hours in 20 degree weather trying to get down Mt. Spokane to safety.
Wayne Schuh, 66, started skiing off a trail Saturday morning and became disoriented. He called a friend about 10:20 a.m. and described the area. The Ski Patrol and Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies then mounted a search effort until heavy snow set in Saturday night. They found his vehicle near Lodge One, but no sign of Schuh. He was hiking down the mountain and eventually spotted a home off of Blanchard Creek Rd. at about 8:30 Sunday morning.
Deputies tell KREM 2 News Schuh was cold and wet, but declined medical treatment.
