SPOKANE -- The Spokane County SWAT Team arrested a suspect in a home-invasion robbery Tuesday morning, after a nearly three-hour standoff on Spokane's lower South Hill.

Deputies believe the man was involved in a home-invasion robbery overnight at an apartment on East Mansfield in Spokane Valley. The first suspect, Darius Toussiant, 18, was arrested Monday night in a vehicle a short distance from the apartment.

Deputies say Glen Akers, 20, ran from the vehicle with a weapon at the time of Toussiant's arrest. Tuesday morning, deputies located his residence near 7th and Sherman around 8:30 a.m. and attempted to make contact with him.

After several attempts, SWAT officers fired tear gas into the home. Akers emerged from the residence around 11:15 a.m. An assault rifle and drugs were found inside the home.
