SPOKANE – STCU has blocked 428 credit and debit cards after a potential breach at a Spokane-area store.

Spokane Police notified STCU on January 3 that someone may have been collecting information from credit cards and debit cards used by customers at a specific store.  The situation involved cards from any financial institution used at the location, not just STCU.  STCU is the only financial institution that alerted KREM 2 News to the potential breach.

STCU Card Services team searched their records and found that 428 STCU Vista credit cards and STCU Visa Debit cards were used at that particular merchant.  STCU representatives called each cardholder to explain the situation, except for a few cardholders that could not be reached.

STCU says it cannot identify the store involved.  KREM 2 News is working to learn the name of the store so we can alert our viewers.
