The crash happened around 1:00 a.m. Friday morning. According to SPD, an officer was driving on Monroe near Walton when another vehicle struck the patrol car, causing the officer’s vehicle to spin.
Police said the other driver took off but was pursued by the officer, who managed to regain control of the patrol car. Another officer nearby also joined the pursuit.
Authorities said the vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of Jefferson and Heroy. The driver initially gave a false name to officers but was later identified as Aaron T. Scott, 43, according to SPD. Scott was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Attempt to Elude a Pursuing Police Vehicle, DUI and Hit and Run.
The officer whose vehicle was hit was not injured. The patrol car sustained only minor damage, police said.
Scott was scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
