COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Police said Wednesday afternoon that a dog that was reported stolen appeared to have just ran off. The dog rerturned home Wednesday.

Police said Wednesday morning that a woman’s dog may have been stolen from its kennel.

Around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, Coeur d’Alene Police Officers responded to a report of the stolen dog on the 800 block of N. 18th St.  The victim said she left her one-and-a-half-year-old Rottweiler locked in his kennel in the back yard the previous evening.  When the woman returned home early Wednesday morning after staying with friends, she discovered her dog missing. The kennel door had been in a locked position when she left, indicating that someone may have physically opened the door to remove the dog.

The victim said her dog, named ‘Remington,’ is a friendly dog that does not bark. Susan valued her pet at $1000.00
