SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A driver accused of a crash near 4th and Blake tried to run away from the scene with his child according to deputies.
An off-duty deputy with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office heard the crash happen around 3:20 p.m. on Monday. The deputy chased and detained the 21-year-old man who was running from the scene. Authorities said the man was carrying a one-year-old baby.
Witnesses told authorities that the man was driving, ran a stop sign, and hit a red vehicle. The impact caused the red vehicle to flip onto its hood. The driver accused of causing the wreck grabbed his baby and took off running according to deputies.
Authorities said the suspect could face felony hit and run charges. He had a suspended license according to Deputy Craig Chamberlin.
Nobody was injured at the scene.
