SPOKANE -- Two separate car crashes in Spokane brought down Avista power poles overnight. The first happened at Indiana and Monroe, then the second just blocks away near Montgomery and Jefferson.

Police tell us in the accident at Indiana and Monroe a driver of a blue Plymouth Voyager plowed into the pole just after midnight. The driver then fled the scene and police are still looking for him or her.

Avista plans to shut off power in that area at 6:00 a.m. to fix the power lines. That outage is expected to last until noon. Police are blocking Indiana at the "S-Curve" so Avista can work. That means you cannot get to Monroe from Eastbound Indiana this morning.

Police tell us the second crash actually ended a vehicle pursuit. This one happened around 2:30 a.m. when they say 40 year old Aaron Harding crashed into a pole behind a church on West Jefferson Street.

Officers took him into custody, right now he's charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. No road closures to report as a result of the second crash.
